The goal of Garden Vista Design is to create a beautiful and unique garden-scape that evokes tranquility. The intention is to draw upon the elements of nature as living art.
This is a unique landscaping company because it is a garden-scape business.
You may ask what is inherently different about a garden-scape business as opposed to a traditional landscape style. A garden is a place that is nurturing in an otherwise chaotic, loud and uncertain world. A true garden possesses a magical quality that brings perspective to life. A moment of reflection in a beautiful garden is a soothing balm. Each time that I landscape a property, I view the new project as a canvas. The berms, pathways and stone walls that I build are the structure. The flowers, decorative grasses, dwarf trees and ground covers are the paint. An interplay of color, structure and dimension culminate to create a scene that is both entertaining and serene.
Garden Vista Design distinctly builds its projects suited to the homeowner's personality. From the beginning components of structure, down to the last splashes of color in the plantings, the design is intended to promote peace of mind and renewal. At times, we incorporate a lawn. In other instances, the whole project is a garden-scape. Your needs are carefully considered. Let us transform your property into a garden sanctuary.
A garden is a natural place, therefore all materials used by Garden Vista Design are ingredients of the earth. From stone pathways to hand-picked and hand-laid rock walls, this commitment is never compromised. Steps are built out of moss rock and edged in ground covers. Additional monolith rocks may also be desired to enhance structure. Crushed rock edging is used as opposed to metal, strip edging. The variety of colors and patterns in natural stone is stunning and very conducive to the beauty of a garden.
A top quality, compost-soil mixture is brought in. This is a light, fertile soil that works very well in dry conditions. The soil acts as a sponge that absorbs and holds water while allowing air and nutrients to filter through to the roots. A very fine, attractive mulch is laid down in the final steps to help prevent weeds and add insulation. This mulch is not the typical, heavy chips that predominant most landscapes. It is a light, lovely mini nugget that smells like a pine knoll. This mulch is delicate enough for the smallest ground-covers to grow through.
*Please note that most companies lay down a fabric material over the bare ground and cover it with a rough mulch. This is an industrial technique that only serves to temporarily prevent weeds. Eventually, weeds develop on top of the construct. Furthermore, the mulch usually falls to the way-side, revealing ugly fabric that tears and splits over time, creating an eye sore.
Attention to detail and use of “real” materials enhances the over-all beauty. Decorative iron stakes may be used in place of plastic stakes. A cloth ribbon may be used in place of plastic ties. Hand-blown, glass solar-lights are suggested if the home owner desires mood lighting for evening viewing.
If a landscape company does not remove the hard clay soil that exists in Denver yards and replace it with a premium, compost-soil mixture, then the company is not doing its job. Nothing can thrive, except weeds and rough plants in clay conditions. Garden Vista Design does an initial “dig-out” and removal of the clay soil, going down anywhere from 4 to10 inches. The amount of the “dig-out” is carefully diagnosed, depending on the design of each property and what plants or ground-covers are to be used. (Specific bushes and dwarf trees require a deeper “dig-out”.)
On properties that have existing gardens, Garden Vista Designs will transplant the vegetation that the homeowner wishes to keep into temporary pots. The desired plants are then reintroduced into a nutrient rich, light soil as the garden-scape project progresses. The enriched compost mixture provides a fluffy soil with excellent drainage that is conducive to better water conservation.
After the “dig-out” is completed and the good soil arrives, the structure is created. Berms, stone-walls and pathways are built. If a grass area is desired, that is incorporated. As the planting commences, ground-covers are used in decorative patterns. Dwarf tree specimens are added to create an exotic look as well as lift the eye upward. Traditional plantings are used to compliment the space.
Each yard is designed to be a work of art. Home owners often report that they receive compliments on their property almost every time they are outside, enjoying the ambiance. Others claim that they see by-passers slow down and stop, entranced by the gardens. Garden Vista Design offers maintenance for clients who wish to keep their garden-scape yard in to top form. Maintenance is non-contractual. It is a simple verbal agreement.
The first step for the home owner is a consultation. During a consultation, a basic design is developed. An initial sketch is devised that day that includes placement of berms, paths and stone-walls. We discuss what plantings would be appropriate and describe the over-all ascetic look we wish to achieve.
A detailed break-down of the cost of the materials and labor is given. Prices are as low as possible. Shopping is done at local stock yards. The cost for all goods are charged directly to the client so no additional profit is made from materials. All receipts for supplies are given to the client for reimbursement The estimate generally takes about 1 hour. The cost is $75.
If the client desires a more intricate, detailed, color sketch design, it is offered at the rate of $100/ hour.
